We will be offering the ACT to our students here at SCHS on April 9 for half the normal cost  = $19.75/student. If the student wants to take the writing part it is an additional $17. Registration must be done by the student’s themselves online at the ACT website. With the April 9 test there will be 4 testing rooms (3 gen ed and 1 sped). ACT will be looking at student scores nation wide to see if the test order impacts student score results (the normal order of the test is English, Reading, Science, Social Studies – on April 9 each room will start with a different section).

ACT wants 20 students per room, thus the posted requirement of 80 students to be a test site, but they have allowed schools to still do the test with lesser number of students participating. (They have done other test dates studying other items but this is the first SCHS has been invited to participate in.) We plan to meet with students, contact parents, and advertise this opportunity on our webpage & Facebook. As long as we have 40 students sign up we will definitely be a test site, thank you in advance for recommending this as a good opportunity. Any student on F/R that signs up to test gets up to 2 ACT test registration dates free.

The ACT is used for college entrance, the KY FAME Program which we have 3 students at the interview stage for, the military, employers, etc to demonstrate students academic skills. We plan to look at standardized test result data from the SAT and ACT as well as PSAT, AccuPlacer, ECA, STAR, Acuity, and Compass with Fred and our staff to determine how well we feel students are doing academically. We are very proud that for 4 years in a row our school letter grade has improved  (grad rate in 2015 was 96.23%, highest English 10 ECA scores yet, and our College & Career Readiness score was an A).
