According to David Todd, Athletic Director/Ass’t Principal, once again this fall we have observed a significant increase in the number of students involved in athletics, co-curricular, & extra-curricular activities. “We have 85+ boys and 72+ girls competing this fall. Compared to 2 short years ago when there were 26 boys involved in a fall sport, the addition of football has lead the boys to a sharp increase. This increase of boys being involved has further brought about a group of male students who have displayed better behavior and more academic effort. We are very proud of the students for being involved and committed to SCHS.” Students have a large number of sports to choose from and we encourage students to participate on multiple athletic teams. Our coaches have done a great job of sharing athletes and working together in the best interest of the student athlete. HS sports to compete in are as follows: (Fall) Football, Soccer, Volleyball, Girls Golf, Cross Country, & Competition Cheer; (Winter) Basketball, Wrestling, Swim, Bowling, & Archery; (Spring) Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, Boys Golf. We are proud to celebrate our first ORVC Conference All-Sports Award.

In grades 9-12, co-curricular activities include Band (50), Choir (51), Flag Corps (6), Yearbook/Photography (17), and Dance team (14). These groups have maintained a slow increase & seen more students make a commitment and get involved.

SCHS offers almost 20 clubs to join. These include: Student Council, Student Leadership Advisory Council (SLAC), BPA, FFA,FCA, Spanish Club, Drama Club, Outdoor Club,Checkers Club,Book Club, Jr. Historical Society, Key Club, Science Club, Yearbook, Pep Club, Art Club, and SADD. Our largest groups still remain BPA and FFA as each organization had over 80+ members last year. “Students have a lot of different choices when it comes to joining an organization, serving the community, and feeling a part of our school community.” Research has shown that when a student is involved he/she does better in school with regard to attendance, behavior, & academics. Thank you our many staff that sponsor clubs, lead co-curricular activities, and coach sports.
