Recognizing the ever-increasing importance of digital technology in the lives of students worldwide, Switzerland County Schools aspires to provide our students with every advantage in real-world application and college preparation through the use of state-of-the-art educational technology.[distance1]

[distance1]Switzerland County High School students in English courses have already been utilizing Chromebook carts to use for educational purposes. Beginning this month, we now have additional Chromebook carts to pilot for educational use. These devices will remain the property of Switzerland County Schools and become an integral part of student learning. Since technology plays such a major role in the lives of our students, we expect that students will use these devices to become responsible digital citizens, collaborate as a community of learners, seamlessly use digital tools within their everyday learning, and individualize their instruction. Although we recognize learning continues beyond the school day, during this pilot students will not take their devices home. Next August we are preparing to roll out our take home devices for 7th to 12th grades as well. This will be a step by step process and you will be informed as these steps approach.[distance1]
Switzerland County Schools believes that 1:1 technology is about learning, not the device. The goal of implementing the use of devices is to better prepare students for success in the future. Our instructional focus will be on teaching students how to effectively and efficiently access and use online information, learn digital citizenship, and other digital tools. This effort is a work in progress and will be taken in small steps to ensure our curricular goals are being met. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
