There has been a whirlwind of activity here at SCES.  A large crowd of students, staff, veterans, and other public patrons experienced a moving program for veterans on November 11th.  Our keynote speaker was Switzerland County School Superintendent Michael Jones.

On November 9th and 10th SCES 4th graders attended a workshop for young writers.  The morning’s activities were conducted by local resident/ shop owner/ writer Wendy Yanikosky.  She engaged students in the writing process, engaging them specifically in poetry.  Mrs. Yanikosky asked the students to tap into their five senses and personal experience.  It seems that a great learning experience was had by all.

December 19th will find Miss Kitty’s fourth graders and Miss Jones’ preschoolers traveling to Swiss Villa.  They have collected gifts for the residents for Christmas.   Those gifts will be delivered, and students will sing Christmas carols for the residents, spreading holiday cheer through their service – learning project.

Spring testing is rapidly approaching! We are hard at work.  The word busy still applies!!
